What is selective deficiency of immunoglobulin G IgG subclasses?
A person is considered to have a selective IgG subclass deficiency if blood levels of one or more of the IgG subclasses are below the normal range based on age, and if the levels of other immunoglobulins (total IgG, IgA, and IgM) are normal or near normal.
What does it mean when IgG Subclass 2 is low?
IgG2 subclass deficiency is the most common subclass deficiency associated with recurrent infection. It may be accompanied by IgG4 deficiency, IgA deficiency, or both. Pure IgG subclass deficiency is rare in association with chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
What level is IgG deficiency?
Serum IgG levels reduced by more than 2 SDs below the mean, accompanied by deficiencies in IgA and/or IgM, suggest common variable immunodeficiency. Usually the IgG level is less than 400 mg/dL; 70% of patients will have very low or absent IgA content.
What do the IgG subclasses do?
For example, IgG1 and IgG3 subclasses are rich in antibodies against proteins such as the toxins produced by the diphtheria and tetanus bacteria, as well as antibodies against viral proteins.
What should your IgG level be?
The IgG normal range for age 12-13 years is between 759-1549 mg/dL. The IgG normal range for age 14-15 years is between 716-1711 mg/dL. The IgG normal range for age 16-19 years is between 549-1584 mg/dL. The IgG normal range for people older than 19 years of age is between 700-1600 mg/dL.
How do you feel with low IgG?
What are the symptoms of an IgG deficiency?
- Sinus infections and other respiratory infections.
- Digestive tract infections.
- Ear infections.
- Pneumonia.
- Bronchitis that keeps coming back, which can lead to permanent lung damage.
- Infections that cause a sore throat.
- Severe and life-threatening infections (rare)
