What causes pes cavus deformity?
The most common cause of pes cavus is the hereditary motor and sensory neuropathies (HMSNs), the most common subtype being Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease. CMT is a progressive degeneration of peripheral nerve myelin with decreased motor nerve conduction.
What is the difference between pes planus and Cavus?
The pes cavus foot type had a high medial arch during weight bearing and associated components may have included intrinsic muscle weakness or prominent metatarsal heads. The pes planus foot type had a low medial arch on weight bearing, and in the frontal plane, these feet had everted calcanei (Figure 3).
