This Philco‐Ford plant was located at 4745 Wissahickon Ave., it was a subsidiary of the Ford Motor Company. It began in 1892 as Spencer Co., a manufacturer of carbon arc lamps. In 1904, it began making electric storage batteries as the Philadelphia Storage Battery Co.
